How counts are estimated
Word boundaries use your browser's language-aware text segmentation when available. Reading time assumes about 225 words per minute and speaking time about 130 words per minute, so actual times vary.
How to interpret the results
Paste a draft, check the live totals, then compare the word count with the requirement for your assignment, article, script or social post. For example, a 900-word article is estimated at about four minutes of reading at 225 words per minute, while the same script takes about seven minutes to speak at 130 words per minute.
Sentence counts are estimates because abbreviations, decimals, headings and fragments can be ambiguous. Character limits may also differ by platform: some services count Unicode characters, links or emoji differently. Use the destination platform's own counter for a final compliance check.
