How the countdown works
The calculator finds the next occurrence of the selected holiday and subtracts the current time on your device. Christmas is December 25, Halloween is October 31, and New Year is January 1. Black Friday is calculated as the Friday after the fourth Thursday in November.
For a personal deadline, choose “Custom date.” Results can differ by time zone because the countdown begins and ends at local midnight.
Example
If Christmas is 10 days, 5 hours and 20 minutes away, the result boxes show each remaining unit separately. The summary also displays the target date so you can confirm that the correct holiday year was selected.

Does the timer update automatically?
Yes. The display refreshes every second while the page stays open.
Which time zone does it use?
It uses the local date and time reported by your device. Someone in another time zone may see a different number of hours remaining.
What happens after a holiday passes?
For recurring holidays, the calculator automatically moves to the next year's date. A past custom date is marked as passed.
Is Black Friday always on the same date?
No. It is the Friday after the fourth Thursday in November, so the calendar date changes each year.
