How to use this fragrance planner
Use the current checkout price and the labeled milliliters. If shipping or tax changes the decision, add it to the price before entering it.
Enter estimated sprays per ml and the number of sprays you normally use each time. The default is adjustable because atomizers are not identical.
Use the number of vials and labeled volume of each vial. Do not assume every sample is 2 ml; many sets use smaller or partially filled formats.
Enter the number of full bottles in rotation. This shows scale, not an appraisal, so use an average bottle price that represents your collection.
Methodology and formulas
The calculator treats one “wear” as one complete application using the number of sprays you enter. It rounds completed wears down so an incomplete final application is not counted.

Worked example using the starting values
A $120, 50 ml bottle at 10 sprays per ml contains an estimated 500 sprays. At three sprays each time, it provides 166 complete wears because the two leftover sprays are not counted as a full application.
166 wears · about $0.72 per wear · roughly 9.6 months at four wears per week.
Eight 2 ml samples provide about 160 sprays, 53 complete wears and 13.3 weeks of use at the same frequency.
A $35 set equals about $0.66 per wear and $4.38 for each distinct scent tested.
At the same average size and price, the purchase-value proxy is $480 with 664 estimated wears, or about 3.2 years at four wears per week.
This example does not prove the set is the better product. It separates application value from the value of learning which scent you genuinely want.
How to interpret the results
- Lower cost per wear: useful for comparing application value, but it does not measure scent quality, longevity on skin or personal preference.
- Cost per scent tried: useful when the purpose is exploration. A higher per-ml price may still prevent a much larger unwanted full-bottle purchase.
- Rotation supply: a planning signal. If the result spans several years, another bottle may add variety rather than solve a supply need.
- Wardrobe purchase value: a simple average-price proxy, not market value, insurance value or resale value.
Limits and safe-use notes
- Atomizer output varies, so real sprays per ml can be above or below the assumption.
- Evaporation, leakage, decanting, shared use and partially used bottles are not modeled.
- Prices exclude tax, shipping, duties and redemption vouchers unless included in the entered price.
- Skin chemistry, climate and formulation affect performance; the calculator does not rate projection or longevity.
- Follow the label. Avoid eyes and irritated skin, stop use if irritation occurs, and keep fragrance away from children, pets, heat and open flame.

How is fragrance cost per wear calculated?
Purchase price is divided by estimated complete wears. Complete wears equal total estimated sprays divided by sprays per wear, rounded down.
How many sprays are in 1 ml?
There is no universal value. Bottle and sample atomizers differ, so 10 sprays per ml is only a starting assumption to adjust when better product information is available.
Is a discovery set always better value?
No. It may cost more per milliliter but can reduce preference risk. Compare cost per wear, cost per scent tried, sample volume and any full-bottle voucher together.
Does wardrobe purchase value estimate resale value?
No. It multiplies the entered average bottle price by bottle count. Remaining volume, condition, rarity, authenticity and resale fees are outside the model.
